Welcome
to the Rangiora Community Garden website...

Our Garden was formed in January 2010 as an initiative of the Families with Children Collaborative, Social Services Waimakariri which represents a number of organisations working in the social service sector in North Canterbury.
With a huge amount of support from our four Community Max young people and members of the community (and an extended summer) we have been able to supply organic produce to local food banks and individuals and families in need of support. Our volunteers guide and help us, sharing their wisdom, time, resources and support. As a community garden we cannot function without our local communities’ support.
Our Garden aims to break down social isolation teach sustainable growing techniques, healthy eating and cooking and provide a focus for the community to work together.

Organic...
Our garden is organic in its growth and it’s produce – we think that if we are not making mistakes we are not learning.
It is our best intention to use organic seed where possible, organic fertilizer, soil and pest deterrents, sprays etc. If you have knowledge and organic practice you would like to share we would be grateful.
